Described by The Strad as “… a first-class violinist, with a rich palette of sounds, beautiful technique and a charming cantabile legato, a musician of astonishing honesty and maturity…” from a young age, he has established himself in the three most prestigious violin competitions – the Tchaikovsky in Moscow, the Queen Elizabeth in Brussels and the Indianapolis Violin Competition.

Particularly appreciated for the quality, strength and depth of his interpretations, Marco Rizzi  commits his talent to sharing the beauty of music from the stage, improving himself and inspiring his listeners. Constantly striving for beautiful sound, interpretative harmony and technical fullness, he enjoys the esteem and friendship of eminent fellow musicians, as well as the affection of a loyal audience.

Present on the most prestigious stages, including La Scala in Milan, the Salle Gaveau and the Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Lincoln Center in New York, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Konzerthaus in Berlin, he has performed with conductors such as R. Chailly, G. Noseda, V. Jurowski, P. Eötvös and orchestras including the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Staatskapelle Dresden, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Orchestre de Concerts Lamoreux, Rotterdam Philharmonisch, Orquesta RTVE Madrid, BBC Scottish, Nederlands Philharmonic.

Creator and protagonist of sophisticated and sometimes surprising musical projects, he combines his solo activity with a chamber music dimension that he lives with great passion, collaborating with artists such as A. Lucchesini, M. Brunello, E. Dindo, L. Zylberstein, G. Hoffman, N. Imai, M. Fischer-Dieskau, D. Poppen. He is also dedicatee of pieces composed by A. Corghi, L. Francesconi, F. Vacchi, U. Bombardelli, C. Galante, U. Leyendecker, U. Pedraglio among others.

In addition to his all-round artistic activity, he teaches at prestigious institutions such as the Hochschule für Musik in Mannheim, the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia in Madrid and the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Lugano and has recorded for Deutsche Grammophon, Amadeus, Nuova Era, Dynamic and Warehouse.

Marco Rizzi currently plays the 1743 P. Guarneri ‘Baron Knoop’ violin, made available by the Pro Canale ETS Foundation.
