Biografia

Renowned for the clarity and depth of his musical voice, Gabriele Strata is distinguished by an intensely reflective and highly personal approach to the piano repertoire.
This artistic maturity earned him important international recognition at the International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2025, while Gramophone praised the strength of his artistic personality and the clarity of his musical expression.

Shortly thereafter, his career reached a significant turning point when he was called at the last minute to replace Maria João Pires in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 27, conducted by Kent Nagano.

Awarded in numerous international competitions, he achieved particular distinction at the 2024 Concours Musical International de Montréal, where he received the Silver Medal, the Audience Prize and the Chamber Music Prize, following his First Prize and Audience Prize at the Rio de Janeiro International Piano Competition the previous year.

In 2025 he was appointed Artist in Residence for three years by the Amici della Musica di Firenze, becoming part of one of Italy’s most prestigious musical institutions, where he regularly appears in recital and chamber music performances at the Teatro della Pergola.

Already active on the international scene, he is a regular guest in Europe, the Americas and Asia, performing in some of the world’s most renowned venues, including the Berliner Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall and Barbican Centre in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Maison Symphonique in Montréal and the Minato Mirai Hall in Yokohama.

His repertoire spans from Baroque music to contemporary works, revealing an artist of rigor, curiosity and deep commitment to musical expression.

He studied with Boris Berman, Benedetto Lupo and Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist, and earned a Master of Music degree from Yale University at the age of 19. He then continued his studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, where he graduated with highest honors, distinction and special mention, and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.

Gabriele Strata has been awarded the Medal of the President of the Italian Republic in recognition of his outstanding artistic achievements.
