First Prize at the “Rio de Janeiro International Competition” in 2023, Second Prize, Audience Award and Chamber Music Prize at the “Montreal International Musical Competition” and “Premio Venezia” 2018, Gabriele Strata stands out among emerging Italian talents for his profound interpretative maturity and enviable technical brilliance.
Silver Medal, Audience Prize and Chamber Music Prize at the Concours Musical International de Montréal 2024, Gabriele Strata is recognised by the critic as ‘A talent of extraordinary sensitivity and perfect technique’ (Il Sole 24 Ore). Already winner of the first prize and audience prize at the Rio de Janeiro International Piano Competition in 2023 and the XXXV Premio Venezia, in 2021 the Teatro la Fenice awarded him the historic ‘Una vita nella musica – giovani’ prize for artistic merit.
He is regularly invited to the most important Italian and international seasons, performing in the Sala Verdi in Milan (Società del Quartetto), Berliner Philharmonie with the Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, Wigmore Hall, Barbican Centre and Cadogan Hall in London, Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Maison Symphonique in Montréal with Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, St. David’s Hall in Cardiff with Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, St. John’s Hall in London with Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, and St. John’s Hall in London with Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. David’s Hall in Cardiff with the Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Centre for Performing Arts in Mumbai with the Symphony Orchestra of India, collaborating with conductors such as Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli, Xian Zhang, Roberto Tibiriçá, Baldur Brönnimann, Michael Bell, Hans Richter.
With a repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary music, his recent Wigmore Hall debut was described by critics as ‘a recital of perfect creativity, securing his place in the uncompromising world of concert halls at only 23 years of age’ (Crepuscular Musings).
The 2024-2025 season includes recital tours to China, Brazil, Japan, Italy, and chamber music debuts at the Berlin Konzerthaus and Hamburg’s Laieszhalle. His performances are frequently broadcast on Rai Radio 3 and Sky Classica HD.
Trained in the piano schools of Boris Berman and Benedetto Lupo, he obtained his Master of Music and Master of Musical Arts at the prestigious Yale University at only 19 years of age. In 2023, he received his Artist Diploma from the Guildhall School of Music in London and his diploma from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, obtaining top marks, cum laude and the honourable mention, awarded to only one other pianist in the history of the Academy.
