The Goldberg Quartet is the winner of the “Piero Farulli Prize” – 42nd Italian Critics’ Prize “Franco Abbiati”, the first prize at the “Filippo Nicosia Chamber Music Award 2023” and at the “Academy Awards” of Verão Classico 2023, the Special Jury Prize at the “Marcello Pontillo 2022” Competition and the “Premio Una vita nella musica Giovani” 2024 of the Teatro alla Fenice in Venice.
Supported by the “Young Talents” scholarship of the Stauffer Academy, the group was “Artist in Resident” of Fondazione Società dei Concerti di Milano in the 2022/2023 season, protagonist of the Nuit du Quatuor 2022 in Paris and “Quartet in Residence” at the Ticino Festival 2022. It collaborates, trough to the Stauffer Center for Strings in Cremona, with the Department of Innovation for the Arts of the Juilliard School in New York, within the project “Bridging the Time – space Divide – connecting Cremona and New York” and has been selected by Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia as the only Italian quartet for the fourth edition of “Casa del Quartetto”, an artistic residency programme for advanced training for young string quartets. Invited with a scholarship, they participate in the international festivals Zeist Music Days (Holland), International String Quartet Academy (Paris), Allegra Festival (Bulgaria), Musique à Flaine (France). The ensemble is part of MERITA platform and Le Dimore del Quartetto, of which it is Ensemble of the Year 2022. They are regularly invited by concert seasons such as Fondazione dei Società dei Concerti di Milano, Gioventù Musicale Italiana, Società dei concerti di Trieste, Società del Quartetto di Vicenza, Giovine Orchestra Genovese, Appassionata, Filarmonica Laudamo, Associazione Jervolino, Associazione Siciliana Amici della Musica, Viotti Festival. They were invited on the radio programme La Stanza della Musica, interviewed by Oreste Bossini: the episode is available on Rai Play, with music by Šostakóvič, Webern and Beethoven. In November 2023 they toured Saudi Arabia, tournée organized by the Fondazione Società dei concerti di Milano with the Italian Consulate in Jeddah and the Italian Embassy in Riyadh on the occasion of the “World Italian Cuisine Week” and the “European Music Week”.
The Goldberg Quartet was founded in 2021. The name is a tribute to J. S. Bach’s Variations, a piece that deeply links the four members and expresses the cardinal ideals of their music-making: refinement, simplicity and communicativeness.
