Marco Seco
To Marco Seco, making music is a total experience which is not limited to stage performances, but manifests itself through a multidisciplinary approach.
In addition to his role as a music conductor, Marco is responsible for the LaFil Milan Philharmonic Foundation’s and Trieste Concert Society’s artistic direction, and organizes numerous social and educational programmes to bring classical music beyond its traditional audiences, towards new generations.
He is a passionate performer of a vast repertoire, with a partiality for early nineteenth century and early twentieth century music.
Marco Seco was born in Buenos Aires into a family of Italian origins. It is here that he began studying the piano, double bass, composition and orchestra direction. He then moved to Europe to study at Milan’s “G. Verdi” Conservatory, and refined his skills at Pescara’s Academy of Music and at the Accademia Chigiana summer school. He has been acknowledged for his convincingly and elegantly expressive musical interpretations, and has intensified his activities lately, receiving numerous invites to participate in European and American musical seasons.
For several years now, has maintained a collaboration with the Milan Conservatory’s Symphonic Orchestra, which has given him the opportunity to grow while working closely with musicians such as Gianandrea Noseda, Daniele Gatti and Donato Renzetti.
Among his recent commitments is a tour across Europe, including concert halls such as Leipzig’s Gewandhaus, Hamburg’s Musikhalle, Stuttgart’s Liederhalle, Bremen’s Die Glocke, the Royal Danish Opera Hall and DR Radio Hall in Copenhagen, and Zurig’s Tonhalle Maag. In the United States, he took part in the Festival Spoleto US in Charleston, directing Domenico Cimarosa’s The Secret Marriage, an 18th century opera gem.
Alongside his concert activities, Marco completes his commitment to cultural education with various innovative projects, especially dedicated to youths, the suburbs, and to an audience which differs from traditional classical music listeners.
Most recently, he contributed to LaFil Milan Philharmonic Foundation’s birth, directing several concerts and collaborating with numerous principal players from the orchestras of the Santa Cecilia National Academy, Teatro la Scala, the Met orchestra, the Gewandhausorchester, the Royal Concertgebouw, the Rai National Symphonic Orchestra, the Turin Royal Theatre, and National Opera Theatre of Rome.
