In ancient Greek philosophy, Noûs represents the highest faculty of the mind: intuition, intellect, and inspiration — a concept that permeates the performances of the Quartetto Noûs, distinguished by clarity of thought, creative energy, and interpretative freedom.

Founded in 2011, the Quartetto Noûs has quickly established itself as one of the most dynamic and innovative chamber ensembles of its generation, earning acclaim from audiences and critics alike for its powerful sound, deep cohesion, and imaginative approach to the repertoire.

The quartet’s artistic education combines the great Italian tradition with the finest European schools: the Walter Stauffer Academy in Cremona with the Quartetto di Cremona, the Musik Akademie Basel with Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartett), the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Accademia Chigiana in Siena with Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartett), and the Musikhochschule Lübeck with Heime Müller (Artemis Quartett).

In 2015, the ensemble received the “Piero Farulli Award” as Best Young Chamber Ensemble within Italy’s Premio Abbiati, and in the same year, Teatro La Fenice in Venice awarded them the “Arthur Rubinstein – A Life in Music” Prize, recognizing their maturity in approaching the great quartet repertoire and their genuine commitment to contemporary music.

Their versatility and originality are reflected in programs that range from the classical repertoire to contemporary works, often including unique performative experiences and cross-disciplinary collaborations with theatre and dance companies.

In addition to regular appearances in major Italian concert seasons, the quartet has performed internationally in Germany, Switzerland, France, the UK, Spain, Belgium, Canada, the United States, China, Korea, India, and Colombia, with broadcasts on RAI Radio 3, RSI, Radio Clásica, and Venice Classic Radio.

They have collaborated with world-renowned musicians such as Tommaso Lonquich, Andrea Lucchesini, Alain Meunier, Sonig Tchakerian, Boris Petrushansky, Rafael Aguirre, Bruno Canino, Alessandro Taverna, Enrico Bronzi, and Roberto Plano.

With Warner Classics, they released in 2019 an album featuring works by Puccini, Boccherini, Verdi, and Respighi.
In 2020, they recorded for Brilliant Classics an album entirely devoted to the quartets of the Italian composer Silvia Colasanti.
In 2025, also for Brilliant Classics, they completed the first Italian recording of the complete string quartets by Dmitri Shostakovich, including the Two Pieces for String Octet Op. 11 in collaboration with the Quartetto di Cremona, and the Piano Quintet with pianist Roberto Plano.
