Unprecedented ensemble with a unique timbral blend, where the variety of articulations of the harp, combined with the warm, round, and brilliant sounds of the cello and clarinet, creates a sonic texture whose expressive power represents a true novelty in today’s artistic landscape.
The timbral potential of this ensemble remains largely unexplored and is brought to its highest level by the three performers—among the most acclaimed on today’s scene—who push their instruments to the limit, overcoming every technical barrier and combining absolute instrumental mastery with specific effects such as près de la table, slap, and the use of percussion.
The program is a journey through the great European musical tradition of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. To highlight such a distinctive variety of timbres, Valerio Lisci has created transcriptions in which the three musicians venture into the rich orchestral textures and evocative melodies typical of late Romanticism.
From Debussy to Fauré, Strauss to Rachmaninov, each piece is presented in a new light, reinterpreting its spirit through the expressive possibilities of a novel chamber ensemble. The ethereal and dreamlike sonorities of Première Rhapsodie and Une Chatelaine en sa tour alternate with the lyrical intensity of Morgen and the expressive depth of Rachmaninov’s Nocturnes and Préludes.
The program reaches its climax with R. Strauss’s Dance of the Seven Veils, in which the performers’ virtuosity is pushed to its absolute limit: the rhythmic component is extremely complex and includes the use of bells for the clarinet, a cymbal for the harp, and a bass drum for the cello.
