Trio Sollima, Bevilacqua, Maestrini

Clarissa Bevilacqua, violin

Giovanni Sollima, cello

Carlotta Maestrini, piano

Two brilliant and young musicians, Clarissa Bevilacqua and Carlotta Mestrini, alongside Giovanni Sollima, in a project that ranges from Beethoven to Sollima, through System of Down, Sigur Ros and much more.

Giovanni Sollima is a world-renowned artist who needs no introduction. This project sees him starring in the dual role of cellist and composer, alongside two promising young musicians, Carlotta Maestrini and Clarissa Bevilacqua, the only Italian to win the Mozart Prize in Salzburg.

The programme opens with L. van Beethoven’s Trio in E flat major op. 1 No. 1, creating an almost humorous contrast with Chop Suey, a piece by the metal-rock band System Of A Down. In the second part, ‘Short Trio Stories’, a composition that ‘mirrors itself at times in the past by recontextualising it’ with cues taken from Beethovenian fragments from the Biamonti catalogue, from Davincian musical rebuses and from Domenico Scarlatti. In the middle, ‘Ara Batur’, a slow ballad by the Icelandic group Sigur Ròs, with an ethereal and transcendental character.
