In October 2016 she won first prize at the “Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition, as well as a special award to perform with the “Zagreb Chamber Orchestra.

Cellist Caterina Isaia, born in 2002 into a family of musicians, is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar in the coveted class of Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt.
She began studying music with Marianne Chen and Monika Leskovar and from 2017 to 2021 was a scholarship holder at the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School in London, where she studied with Bartholomew LaFollette and Matthijs Broersma.

Caterina has participated in numerous national and international competitions, winning first prizes at the Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition in 2016, the Vychytil International Cello Competition in Prague in 2020, the Rudolf Barshai International Competition for String Instruments in St. Petersburg and the E. Sollima in Enna.
She also received the special ‘Prix du Musee Bonnat-Helleu’ prize at the Ravel Festival in 2021.

As a soloist, Caterina has performed at prestigious venues such as the Teatro La Fenice, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Politeama in Palermo, Menuhin Hall, Alfredo Piatti Hall, Vienna Stadtpalais Liechtenstein, Theater Casino Zug, Montforthaus Feldkirch, Residenz Munich, Ljubljana Festival, Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Wimbledon Festival and Philharmonie in Luxembourg.
Notable performances include his appearance in 2022 at the EXPO in Dubai, at the Italian Pavilion, where he played ‘Violoncelle Vibrez’ for two cellos with composer Giovanni Sollima.

In the 2024 season, Caterina will perform with Alexander Gilman and the LGT Young Soloists in Vasks’ Cello Concerto No. 2 in the Großer Saal of the Tonhalle Zurich, as well as performing with the Zagreb Soloists at the Janigro Festival 2024.

Since 2022, she has been an active member of the renowned LGT Young Soloists, and in 2023, she became an official spokesperson for the Jargar strings.

Caterina is also an enthusiastic chamber musician, having participated in various academies and festivals, including the Gstaad Festival and Academy, the Kronberg Academy Cello Masterclasses, the Ravel Festival and Academy and the Villecroze Academy. She is also a scholarship holder at the Liechtenstein Music Academy.

Catherine plays an F. Gagliano from 1753.
